Dr. Maria Pollard

Maria is Associate Director for Nursing, Midwifery and Allied Health Professions at NHS Education for Scotland where she is responsible for developing, leading and managing the strategic direction for education and workforce development. She directs a portfolio of multi-professional educational development initiatives which enhance educational quality and contribute to the improvement of healthcare services across Scotland.

Prior to this, Maria spent 19 years in Higher Education working in strategic positions where she had responsibility for statutory and regulatory issues as well as providing leadership and coordination of the School of Health and Life Sciences portfolio of programmes to ensure quality, growth and sustainability.

In addition, Maria is a registered midwife, registered nurse and is a Doctor of Education.
