Alison Kelly

Alison is a physiotherapist, lecturer and clinical researcher with over 20 years’ experience across healthcare, higher education and research. She previously worked as a specialist physiotherapist in oncology and haematology and is currently a Lecturer in Physiotherapy at Queen Margaret University.

Alison’s particular interests are rehabilitation, digital health, person-centred care and reducing inequalities in access to services. Her doctoral research focuses on the use of digital technology to support people with oesophageal gastric cancer to prepare for major treatment and surgery. She has also been involved in service improvement, professional regulation and research governance, including as a Registration Panel Assessor for CORU, Ireland’s regulator for health and social care professionals.


Throughout her career, Alison has been particularly interested in supporting people to maintain independence, participate in decisions about their care and have equitable access to services. She is looking forward to bringing her clinical, academic and research experience to the Board and contributing to Capability Scotland’s work.
