I am Richard and I am 63-year-old man. I am a full-time wheelchair user looking for a friendly, reliable Personal Assistant to support me at home and out in the community. I live in Dumfries with my wife, mother-in-law and small dog. My interests include gardening, photography, sailing and travel.

 About the role

You’ll help me maintain my independence and enjoy day-to-day life. Tasks are varied and may include:

  • Light domestic duties (shopping, cooking, cleaning, laundry, linen changes, light gardening)
  • Personal care (bathing, shaving, medication support, preparing a dosette box)
  • Accompanying me to medical appointments
  • Helping me stay in touch with family and friends
  • Supporting hobbies such as dog walking, photography and sailing
  • Coming with me to social events
  • Assisting with physiotherapy and exercise routines

No two days are exactly the same.

 Who I’m looking for

  • Able to build a positive working relationship based on trust and good communication
  • Discreet and able to maintain confidentiality
  • Comfortable working in someone’s home and supporting personal care

    Hours
  • Monday–Thursday: 10:00–14:30
  • Friday: 10:00–14:15
  • Total weekly hours: 19.75
  • Includes a half-hour unpaid break at noon each day.
  • I am willing to be flexible with hours.

  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Needs to get PVG check.

  • Hygiene/food-handling qualification
  • Driving Licence
  • Enjoys dogs
  • Good listener
