A Royal Celebration at Riccarton Hub

As part of the celebration to mark eight decades of dedicated service and care, we had a memorable afternoon at our Riccarton Hub, where we were joined by our Royal Patron, Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Edinburgh. The milestone event brought together supported individuals, dedicated staff, and valued supporters to reflect on the charity’s rich history and celebrate the vibrant community we continue to build together. 

During her visit, The Duchess spent time meeting with the people we support, hearing firsthand about their personal journeys, achievements, and aspirations. Her Royal Highness also officially opened our brand-new YouthZone Play Park by unveiling a commemorative plaque, before joining the team to cut a specially designed cake in honor of our 80th anniversary. 

The celebration offered a meaningful opportunity to reflect on how far the organisation has come since its founding in 1946. Chief Executive Brian Logan emphasised that while the organization’s scale and services have evolved substantially over the past eight decades, the core mission remains entirely unchanged: ensuring disabled individuals in Scotland have the choice, independence, and equality of opportunity they deserve.
